James 1:19 - Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
Hearing, speaking and wrath define a man. The rate at which we hear, speak and get angry make or mar us in life. The Lord through His word has given us a formula to make our life better. That we should be swift to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger.
It is only a fool that gets angry easily and speak rashly – Proverbs 14:17, Ecclesiastes 5:6; 7:9. Remember that the mouth can take lives faster than any weapon. The life of Nabal and his house hold would have been deleted because of Nabal’s mouth, 1 Samuel25:10. So guide your mouth and your anger (your heart and emotion).
Be swift to hear. The more you hear, the more you become what you heard. So you should hear only that which is good – Philippians 4:8. Try to hear good things swiftly and be very slow to speak and very very slow to get angry. May God mould us to this word of His today, Amen.
