Obtaining the King's Favour 3 (The Wise)
Proverbs 13:1
Proverbs 13:1 (BBE) A wise son is a lover of teaching, but the ears of the haters of authority are shut to sharp words.
Malachi 1:6 (GNT)
The Lord Almighty says to the priests, “Children honor their parents, and servants honor their masters. I am your father—why don't you honor me? I am your master—why don't you respect me? You despise me, and yet you ask, ‘How have we despised you?’
No Wisdom, No Favour!
Master Disrespected, No Favour!!
Father Dishonoured, No Favour!!!
From the above Scriptures and illustration, we see that honouring and respecting fathers and masters respectively yield to favour. A loyal and respectful son will always be at advantage over a proud, disobedient and despising son.
Like we saw days back, God wants to favour us - in our finances, health, offices, status and otherwise (total flavoured life); but where is our honour (reverential fear) for Him.
The Bible recorded that Jesus and others grew and were in Favour with both man and God. What gave them total favoured life? Obedience to the Father's instructions.
Do you love instruction, correction and discipline? If yes then you're on your way to having a total favoured life. Joshua was told to love God's instructions to have good success; likewise Timothy.
Brethren, having success (the King's favour) can't be gotten without honouring (reverential fear, love). There is great hope of those that reverence their parents. There is little hope of any who will not hear those that deal faithfully with them.
Shalom!!!
