Honour For Leaders – Our Obedience

Honour For Leaders – Our Obedience  Number 16:13 – Is it not enough that you have taken us from a land flowing with milk and honey, to put us to death in the waste land, but now you are desiring to make yourself a chief over us?  Obedience is the currency for uplifting and promotion. God values obedience and obedience is the first command with a blessing – Ephesians 6:1, 2 Chronicles 20:20.  Those in authority are to be obeyed by their subjects. God didn’t give us any rule to disobey even the heathen leaders; if their actions and command is not against God and the Christian Faith then we are bound to be obedient to them – Hebrews 13:17, Romans 13:1-7.  Summarily, don’t disrespect your leaders even if they wrong you. Talk to them in private not openly and if you can’t, then talk to God so that God will correct them. When you are sent for or given orders by your leaders, obey them even if you are angry with them.  Obedience to leaders is not f...

Honour For Leaders – Our Respect

Honour For Leaders – Our Respect Number 16:13 – Is it not enough that you have taken us from a land flowing with milk and honey, to put us to death in the waste land, but now you are desiring to make yourself a chief over us? From the text we’re considering, these men had no respect for their leaders Moses and Aaron. The manner at which they spoke to him showed that they had no respect for him. Your pastor should be respected and honoured because he is the representative of God , he may be an ordinary man like you, yet he should be respected because God commanded it (Eph 6:1) no matter his social status or academic qualification.

Honour For Leaders – Our Words

Honour For Leaders – Our Words Number 16:13 – Is it not enough that you have taken us from a land flowing with milk and honey, to put us to death in the waste land, but now you are desiring to make yourself a chief over us? From the previous verses, Moses sent for Dathan and Abiram who were leaders among the children of Israel, but they didn’t honour his invitation. In the earlier verses of this chapter these men together with Korah and other leaders who were all together two hundred and fifty in number gathered against Moses and Aaron and against their priestly position and authority. Those words from our text were the reply Moses got from Dathan and Abiram when they were sent for; they refuse to honour his invitation and they spoke negative things about him in their tents. For the next few days, we will dwell on this series but for today we’ll be considering our words. Our Words Now the question comes to you, what are the things you say concerning your leader bot...

Think Right!

Think Right! Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. God’s thoughts towards us are of good and not of evil to give us an expected end. So why do u think so ill of yourself, He who created you has forgiven you all your iniquities and has healed all your diseases. What more could be greater than this? Yes we live in the era of GRACE let your gaze not be based on what you can do (Your Abilities) But on Christ and his finished works. Think the same thought that God has for you and not the thought the devil wants you to thing.

You Are Important!

You Are Important! Genesis 2:5 – And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. This verse points to man importance and purpose on earth. Creation was not completed until man came forth.  God wants to use us in the area in which He has given to us. We have been predestined for greatness. Influence in the area in which you have been created for and the change you are looking for will spring forth. You are moving does not mean you are making progress, life is a process, so do not mute!

Great Mercy

Great Mercy Genesis 18:26 – And the LORD said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes. God’s judgment is done with great mercy. He doesn’t judge the same way with man. That is why He declares that His ways are different and higher than human’s ways. The wicked are saved most times by the mercy of God for the sake of the righteous. If God can find a human to stand in the gap then His mercy will be seen. Abraham was interceding, but the sinners and sin in Sodom and Gomorrah was just too much. No sodomite or Gomorrahite was even among the righteous people – Ezekiel 22:30. Beloved, God is merciful but the mercies of God should never be taken for granted. Reach out to the sinners you know and always pray that sinners should be converted to righteousness. God bless you as stand in the gap for sinners.

Never His Interest!

Never His Interest! Genesis 18:25 – That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right? God is never interested in the death of sinner hence, this bargain between Him and Abraham. God always want sinners to come to repentance. He doesn’t want to destroy because of few sinners. This speaks of the mercy of God. I believe that fifty (50) people is not one-hundredth of the population of Sodom and Gomorrah, but God was ready to save Sodom and Gomorrah if fifty people that are righteous had been found. God wants all sinners to repent and in no way is He interested in the death of sinners – Ezekiel 18:23. Nevertheless, continuation in sin and neglect of God’s grace and compassion will result to the death of sinners just as in the case of Sodom and Gomorrah. Let’s all accept God’s mercy and don’t continue in sin – Romans 6:1. Shalom.

Genuine Love

Genuine Love Genesis 18:24 – Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein? Those who love God love their fellow men, and earnestly supplicate for them the mercies which they need. This was what Abraham did for Sodom and Gomorrah. Abraham was not supplicating for Sodom and Gomorrah because of Lot’s sake but he was doing it for the Love He has for God. Everyone that truly love God also love fellow human. This is what God through his vessel in 1 John 4:20. The love of God doesn’t make a man to condemn another even if the person is in sin. The love of God make people to love people even sinners but not necessary their actions. Love as God love – 1 John 4:12, 1 John 4:11. Beloved, love people genuinely as God love. If you love people then God dwell in you. Shalom!

The Great Question

The Great Question Genesis 18:23 – And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked? This is an invariable principle of justice, that the righteous shall not be punished for the crimes of the impious. Thus Abraham lays hold of this speech as the foundation of his supplications. This scripture also show the efficacy of prayer and intercession. Abraham reasoned justly as to the rectitude of the divine procedure and many guilty cities and nations have been spared on account of God's people (Romans 3:5-6; Matthew 5:13; 24:22). Beloved, the righteous will never be destroyed with the unrighteous hence continue in your righteousness and don’t be fretted at the prosperity of the unrighteous. This is why the Lord said we should remain and continue in righteousness – Revelation 22:11. God will give us the grace to remain righteous in Him in Jesus name – Amen.

Stay With Jehovah

Stay With Jehovah Genesis 18:22 – And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the LORD. There is benefit in staying with the Lord. There is none that stays in the Lord and suffer. God’s presence brings light and life. Abraham stayed with the Lord and this must have exposed him to lots of things because Jehovah might have taught Abraham the great usefulness and importance of faith and prayer. In Psalm 84:10, David confessed how positive it is to be in the house of the Lord. Here is not literally the physical house but it is the presence of God that is being referred to here. Beloved, always stay with the Lord. Psalm 84:10 – For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

Act With Knowledge

Act With Knowledge Genesis 18:21 – I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know. Our sins cry for vengeance; remember that God’s spirit in us cry against our sin. In this scripture, God spoke in the manner of human, teaching us to always act with knowledge not on assumption or hearsay. A lesson to magistrates teaching them not to judge according to report, but accurately to inquire into the facts themselves. Act with knowledge, and treat them as their case may require. God knows all and not as if there were any thing concerning which God is in doubt; but he is pleased thus to express himself after the manner of men. Beloved, please never act without knowledge. Acting with knowledge will make us to act right and to discharge right and good judgement. Thanks.

The Other Cry!

The Other Cry! Genesis 18:20 – And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; Cry usually denotes a plea for assistance. When someone cries, he/she is calling for help, showing that he/she is grieved or in pains, see Genesis 27:34, Exodus 2:23, Genesis 4:10. This cry is a positive cry, but there is a negative cry also. The other cry is the negative cry. This is as a result of sin. Whenever the creatures of God sin and act in their ways then there is a cry. Our spirit which is the breadth of life given to us by God makes this cry unto God. Even while our body might be enjoying, our spirit is crying! Genesis 13:13 and Genesis 19:13 also tells us of the negative cry. This negative cry when it comes up to God causes destruction of the body and soul whose spirit has been crying. Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed because of this cry. God will help us not to continue in sin. The positive cry brings salvation and h...

How Are You Known?

How Are You Known? Genesis 18:19 – For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him. Every one to an extent is known. But we are all known by God who is the all-knowing God. From our text, we saw that God knew Abraham positively and this made refuse holding back His actions from Abraham. God trusted Abraham massively because He knew Abraham as a man that will instil the fear of God into his children. Beloved, can know trust you to this level like He trust Abraham? If we serve God with our heart and dedicatedly follow Him, God will know us positively and this will command His respect to us. 1 Samuel 2:30. We should serve God with our heart so that we can gain the trust of God. Come think of it, if God had not known Abraham the way our above scripture puts it, what will become of Lot and Abraham? May ...

There Is More Ahead!

There Is More Ahead! Genesis 18:18 – Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? Abraham had no child that is of the promise but the Lord didn’t see him as barren and poor. God saw Abraham as a great man and from him will the earth be blessed. The same way God saw Abraham that is the way God is seeing you. Beloved, even if you are poor or not to do well now, don’t destroy yourself by seeing your negatively and outside the way God sees you. God told us that we are great and made in His image. He has a lot of thoughts for us and nothing can stop those thoughts except we stop it ourselves. Jeremiah 29:11, Jeremiah 1:5, Genesis 1:27. There is more ahead of you; many good things ahead of you. Just see yourself in the vision of God and not negatively. I pray that we will always see ourselves the way God sees us. Shalom!

Getting God’s Secrets!

Getting God’s Secrets! Genesis 18:17 – And the Lord said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do; Secrets are only given to a close associate and got from a close source, hence if you want to get secrets then be a close associate. We can see that God didn’t not hide His mission of destruction from Abraham imply because Abraham was a close associate. Not closeness in terms of physical both first closeness in heart. Remember that yesterday we said that staying more in the Lord’s presence gives access to divine secret. Beloved, don’t be in a haste to go out of God’s presence. There are secrets which will only be given when we are close. Deuteronomy 29:29, Isaiah 445:19, Daniel 2:22, Matthew 13:35. Beloved, I pray that as we strive to be close to God, the secrets that we save us and those that we care for will be revealed unto us in Jesus Name, Amen. Shalom!

Finish Well!

Finish Well! Genesis 18:16 – And the men rose up from thence, and looked toward Sodom: and Abraham went with them to bring them on the way. To start a thing is good but it is better and imperative to finish well. Many often make the mistake of aiming to start well without aiming to finish well. From our scripture, we will emphasize on the second part. “…Abraham went with them to bring them on the way”. Abraham paid his utmost respect to his visitors and they parted in good and joy. Abraham started well by rushing to meet them. Welcoming and entertaining them was also right but he never left them alone after the promise. He took his time and escorted them and they still communicated. Abraham finished well; we should aim and strive to finish well too. Beloved, don’t rush out of God’s presence even when God’s promise has been given you, stay more with God. In escorting, Abraham got access to divine secret. Hence, stay more in God’s presence and you will not only get ...

Let God’s Mercy Prevail

Let God’s Mercy Prevail Genesis 18:15 – Then Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And he said, Nay; but thou didst laugh. Some days back we saw that when we doubt God, He get angry especially when the doubt is from a believer. The doubting of God’s word from a believer attracts a kind of harsh sanction. In Luke 1:18-20, we saw that Zacharias doubted God’s word and he was made dumb. Also, in 2 Kings 7:1-3; the king’s captain (like second to the king) doubted and questioned God’s word and his sanction was to see the miracle but never to enjoy the miracle. But in our scripture today, Sarah was shown mercy. Her laughing at God’s word attracted no sanction. This is as a result of mercy. I pray, in all areas we have doubted God’s word that we will be shown mercy. God will give us the grace never to doubt His word. Jehovah, let your mercy always speak for us. Show us mercy over our faithlessness and doubt in Jesus name, Amen.

Quenching Doubt!

Quenching Doubt! Genesis 18:14 – Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son. Doubt can come to our hearts at times but when doubt comes, there is a question that we should always use to quench the doubt from of heart. This is, “Is anything too hard for God to do?” This same question was used to tell Sarah that there is nothing God can’t do. Always ask yourselves this question when doubt arises. Another way to quench doubt is to look on God continually. Don’t look at the waves like Peter, but look straight into God’s eyes and hold on to him. Hebrews 12:2, look unto Jesus endlessly and constantly.

Doubt Pisses God!

Doubt Pisses God! Genesis 18:13 – And the LORD said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old? A walk with God is a walk of faith. There is no way anyone can please God except by the application of faith. Faith is the total confession [bodily and verbally] of unseen as though seen. Sarah’s laugh was a laugh of doubt and this pissed the Lord. Sarah limited the power of God to the natural only. God doesn’t want us to doubt him. He can do and undo anything that pleases him. Thomas doubted and Jesus ensured that the doubt is out of his heart. Beloved, don’t doubt! When God speaks, he brings His words to manifestation. No matter what the natural is saying against God’s spoken word, you just have to believe in God and hold on to Him. Please don’t doubt because DOUBT PISSES GOD! Shalom. Please read 2 Kings 7:1-3 and Luke 1:18-20.

God Is More Than Our Doubt

God Is More Than Our Doubt Genesis 18:12 – Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also? Sarah’s laugh was not because she believed but because she doubted 100% that it is not possible. She was even doubting for Abraham , highlighting his physical nature and limitation. Beloved, whatever maybe the doubt, God is far above the doubt. He can and He will do more than what we think He can do [Ephesians 3:20]. Our doubt will not stop the Lord from showing us mercy! In ever y area that we might have doubted, may God forgive us. Don’t limit God to the natural and physical laws. Only God has countlessly broken the physical laws and till date, He is still in the business of breaking physical laws. Every physical law holding you bound will be broken by the Lord. Say to yourself that God should help you not to be doubting His words and promises. Shalom!

It Doesn’t Matter!

It Doesn’t Matter!  Genesis 18:11 – Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.  I can across something a post that says, “If God says it is your time, your clock will work even without battery”. This just tells us that God can do all things. The creator is not subject to the creature but the creatures are subject to the creator.  God knows before speaking. He knew that Lazarus was dead; He knew that the bones were dead and dry; He knew that natural law is Abraham and Sarah; be in all the above cases and others, God spoke undermining the situation and the situation obeyed God.  Beloved, it doesn’t matter what the physical/natural laws are saying concerning your situation. What matters is that you serve a God that is not a natural God; with Him all things are possible. Look unto the God side of your life, and not the physical/natural side. Shalom!

Time of Life

Time of Life Genesis 18:10 – And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent. There is a time of life to everything on that is living. This time differs. Mr A’s time is not Mr B’s time. The bible made us to understand that to everything there is a time [Ecclesiastes 3]. Your time of life will not pass you in Jesus name. At every season that you are supposed to shine, you will definitely shine. Just do the right and you will excel; nothing can stop you dear. From verse one of Genesis 18, Abraham did the right thing and this made this promise to come out at the right time. God will help us to always do the right thing in Jesus name. I speak into your life beloved, that God who makes everything beautiful in His own time will beautify your life beyond the imagination and explanation of human [Ecclesiastes 3:11]. Remain blessed and do the right thing. Shalom!

Answer Rightly!!!

Answer Rightly!!! Genesis 18:9 – And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent. A right answer is needed for every question. The visitor asked Abraham not that they didn’t know the answer to the question, but they want to know things, I guess, about Abraham’s character and his relationship with his wife. Just imagine, what if Abraham had given answers like, “That barren woman that can’t bear me children?”; “Why asking? Didn’t you know that she must have been the one that cook?”; “Am I my wife’s hand bag or keeper?” Do you think that they will be given the promise that day? Behave like Abraham and not like Cain that answered God if he is Abel’s keeper [Genesis 4:9] or like Adam and Eve in Genesis 3:9-13. Don’t even keep silent to an important question like Cain in Genesis 4:6-7. I believe that if Cain had answered God, God might show him mercy. Proverbs 15:1 make us to understand that we have to answer rightly. Your answer can eit...

Be Expectant!

Be Expectant! Genesis 18:7 – And he took butter and milk and the young ox which he had made ready and put it before them, waiting by them under the tree while they took food. Let’s learn something again from our father Abraham. After he gave, he waited. His waiting wasn’t to see if his visitor will partake of his gift neither was it for he to watch the eating manner or habit of his visitors. Abraham’s waiting shows that he was expectant. Whenever we give either to God or to human, we should be expectant that God will reward us mercifully. Remember, if you are never expectant you will live your life like normal and when the goods come you will never be able to recognized it. Beloved, your expectation should be to God alone and never tied to humans. Hebrews 12:2, continually looking onto Jesus and your expectation will never be cut off. Shalom!

Select Appropriately!

Select Appropriately! Genesis 18:7 – And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetch a calf tender and good, and gave it unto a young man; and he hasted to dress it. Yesterday we saw that we should be time cautious and opportunity cautious also. The same way Abraham hasten Sarah his wife, he hasten his servant also. Look at this, ‘a calf tender and good’; Abraham selected an appropriate and a befitting calf (gift) for his visitors. Giving is more than giving a gift, it is giving appropriately. It is giving a befitting gift. In Malachi 1:7, the Lord warns against giving inappropriately. Beloved, for our giving to be valued, we need to select the ‘tender and good’ from the collection of what we want to give, then we do the giving cheerfully and willingly. In 2 Samuel 24:24, David refused to give the Lord what hasn’t cost him. Also, in Genesis 4, Cain brought inappropriately (verse 3) and Abel brought appropriately (verse 4). God had respect on Abel’s, hence whenever a givin...

Be Time Cautious!

Be Time Cautious! Genesis 18:6 – And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth In the events of life, time is very important. Time cautiousness salvages many issues from destruction. Everyone on earth is given same time but some at the end of the day are more benefited than others, why? It all boils down to the way time is utilized. Abraham was able to achieve his plan of entertaining the visitors in a jiffy because he was time cautious and also made his wife (and others I believe) to be time cautious and to utilize their time well. Isaac was not timely and it caused him his destiny and blessings. Beloved, don’t be time careless and don’t waste your time. Make optimum use of your time and opportunities. Shalom!

Be A Comforter!

Be A Comforter! Genesis 18:5 – Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree: Everyone in life at a point in times needs to be refreshed. This refreshment is not just by food alone but it can be by words of encouragement and admonition. Abraham noticed the distance the men has been through and willingly opted to refreshed them. Look around you beloved; are there no people that have been through diverse issues in life? Are there not people that need refreshment and refreshing whether in food, cash or advice and encouragement? Go and refresh them. There are reasons why you should be a refresher. Firstly you will be refreshed as you refresh others – Proverbs 11:25. Secondly, you get access to secrets – Genesis 18:17. May God give us the heart to becoming a refresher always in Jesus name, Amen. Shalom!

Beg To Serve

Beg To Serve Genesis 18:3 – And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant: Some opportunities come rarely while others come often. When an opportunity comes especially those that come rarely, it is momentous and imperative that it should be totally utilized, even if it warrants begging. Abraham recognized this opportunity because he was perceptive and he made full use of the opportunity. You see, Abraham prayed (requested, pleaded and begged) to serve. This should be our mentality. We should be ever ready to rightly serve and to make full use of opportunities that comes from God to us. See also the story of the Shunammite woman in 2 Kings 4:8-13. I pray that God will make us more perceptive and eager to serve that we will not make nonsense of our God given opportunities, in Jesus name, Amen.

Be Perceptive!

Be Perceptive! Genesis 18:2 – And lifting up his eyes, he saw three men before him; and seeing them, he went quickly to them from the door of the tent, and went down on his face to the earth; Good things are not always wrapped with gold. Not all that glitters is gold and not all gold is good. Abraham saw and he recognized. Many have missed their opportunities due to imperceptiveness. Also many have fallen due to imperceptiveness. Being perceptive aids your exchange, promotion, uplifting and testimony. Also perceptiveness prevents your downfall and planned disaster. I pray that we will be perceptive and discerning. I pray that new and bigger opportunities will commiserate our missed opportunities. Our prayer daily should be, “Jehovah, help me to be more perceptive to divinity and spirituality”. Perception forestalls downfall and engages promotion and testimonies. Be perceptive!

Be Tuned!

Be Tuned! Genesis 18:1 – Now the Lord came to him by the holy tree of Mamre, when he was seated in the doorway of his tent in the middle of the day; A radio cannot broadcast clearly if it is not tuned properly. The radio might have lively batteries but it will only produce noise and not sound except it is tuned. Abraham was tuned! He was tuned to God despite the heat of the sun and the heat of the situations around him. This was what made Abraham to notice the presence of God. Beloved, don’t let the situations around and in you tune you out of God. Keep your antenna fixed on God. The Psalmist looked unto God and others [Psalm 121:1-2, Psalm 34:5] and we are advised to look unto Jesus [Hebrews 12:2]. Look [be tuned to God] and Live, my brothers and sisters look and live!!!

Take Something!

Take Something! Genesis 18:8 – And he took butter and milk and the young ox which he had made ready and put it before them, waiting by them under the tree while they took food. There are mysteries to giving, the giver is always a receiver; the giver is a receiver; and the giver is an investor. These are only to cheerful and willingly givers. Abraham took something and this brought his exchange. Note that despite he took from his abundance, he gave joyfully and willingly. This heart of Abraham made him to have an exchange. Take that which you have so that you can reach for those things that trouble you. When you take something and give it out, then you get something which is greater and more precious. Beloved, always act like Abraham. Exchange does not come by words but by right actions. God will give you testimonies this month in Jesus name, Amen.

August 2018 Prayers

August 2018 Prayers God works in a mysterious way. The thoughts of human are never that of God. For there to be input there must be output. As you say these prayers, may help honour them and give you exchange positively in the areas you need them, Amen! I give unto you Jehovah all the glory, for who you are, what you have done and what you will do. Lord I lift up this month into your hands, sanctify and bless this month for my friends, family and I. Let you covenant of peace, favour, grace, mercy and love be continually present in my life. O Lord, pay me a visit in this month that will change my issues to testimony. Jehovah, never let me lack seed to sow. My seeds and sacrifices of this month and before, speak positive exchange in my life in Jesus name. O Lord, in this month of Exchange, exchange my tro...

August 2018 – Month of Exchange

August 2018 – Month of Exchange Genesis 18:8 – And he took butter and milk and the young ox which he had made ready and put it before them, waiting by them under the tree while they took food. Welcome to the eight month of 2018, hereby themed the Month of Exchange. Abraham from our text did something important and that gave him a promise to what he has been long expecting. This month, we should act like Abraham and we will see that whatever you have been expecting will be given to you. God gave Jesus to the world and He gained the world and His son back. Learn to give so that you can get. Jesus gave Himself to the purpose of His Father and He became a King rather than remaining as a begotten son. See John 3:16, Colossians 2:10, Philippians 2:9. Also remember that in the Bible, a hidden king that understands the strength of exchange, took his son that ought to become a king and sacrifice him as a burned sacrifice, 2 Kings 3:27. In this month of exchange, do s...
