Poor in Spirit
Matthew 5:3 – Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

For the next days, we will be looking at the Lord’s teaching fondly called the beatitudes. The above verse did not say the poor in flesh. Hence, the Lord was not teaching that the poor in flesh are blessed neither was He teaching that we as His followers should not be rich in the flesh. Jesus was speaking about the spiritual state of any human!

To be poor in the spirit is to be tamed in the spirit and brought under total control by God’s word. Poverty and wretchedness in the spirit to have referential fear of God; it is to tremble at the Lord’s command and instruction. This was shown in King David when Prophet Nathan met him 2 Samuel 12.

Beloved, God’s kingdom belongs to those that are poor in spirit, that in contrite in heart and are broken in spirit. I pray that God will make us poor in the spirit as we daily walk with him. Shalom!

Acts 2:47 … And the Lord added to the church daily … A careful and holy spirit concentrated reading shows that there is a mystery to addition. Addition is triggered by being in Favour with both God and Human. However, there is an action that triggers the state of being in favour with God and Human. Studying Luke 6:38, Luke 2:52 and other scriptures shows that there can’t be addition without favour and there can’t be favour without giving and oneness. The giving is not solely financial, but in all aspects of life. What you give never comes back to you in same quantity and quality.
