Fruitfulness By Pruning
Hebrews 12:1
... let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight) and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to and entangles us ...
No tree produces well without pruning. To prune is to do away with dead parts from the living. Cut away whatever that isn't good.
Note that your union in Christ makes you productive but when you're in Christ, you must prune so that you'll bear much fruits. Failure to prune leads to low productivity and gradual cutting off from Christ. John 15:1-5.
The spiritual pruning is done by the word of God, Heb. 4:12 and nothing physical. What are those things which you're to kill? Colossian 3:5, 8 & 9.
Regular examination and assessment of one's self aids pruning. That's why we are advised to examine ourselves, 2 Cor. 13:5. Beloved when examining yourself use the word of God and never allow devil to deceive nor condemn you.
Grace to be continually pruned to be Christ like be given us, Amen!
