Feed the Flock!
1 Peter 5:2-4
[2] Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof , not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
[3] Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.
[4] ...ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
For growth to take place, there must be right nurturing. Taking a look at the animal world, nurturing isn't done only by the Shepherd but also by the older animals. The elders (those mature spiritually in Christ) not only the pastor have the responsibility to feed the flock of Christ. This is to produce growth and a perfect flock awaiting the Chief Shepherd's return.
The elders are to do this feeding passionately by living an exemplary lifestyle. They shouldn't be forced and they should do it with a pure motive. More importantly, they should never assume that they owns the flock. In so doing, a reward (a fadeless crown of glory) awaits them from Jesus. Shalom!
