Breaking Evil Covenant

MEDITATION
EZEKIEL 17:11-24.

How to break an evil covenant

1. The evil covenant
a. Jerusalem was already captured and had already experienced the first deportation to Babylon 2 Chronicles 36:10.
b. Zedekiah was installed as King by Nebuchadnezzar under an evil covenant if he wanted to enjoy his reign 2 Chronicles 36:13.
c. What was the term of the covenant? That the kingdom of Judah will forever be base, in subjection and perpetual defeat, Ezekiel 17:14.
d. What was the benefit? Judah will not be destroyed and the king will not be taken to captivity Ezekiel 17:14.

e. Since it was a national covenant, the princes and leaders were part of this evil covenant Ezekiel 17:13.
Q Why do people go into unrighteous covenants with greater powers, civil or spiritual, nowadays? Hebrews 2:15.
2. God's attitude towards evil covenants
a. Did God recognise the covenant? Why not? It was voluntary. Both sides had their benefits and the repercussions. God is a covenant keeper and He is a witness to all covenants, Ezekiel 17:15,16. See v19 where God owned the covenant.
b. God did not expect Judah to break the terms of the covenant. If you break the terms of your covenant, you bear full responsibilities, Ezekiel 17:15,16.
3. How to break off from evil covenants
a. Note that the covenant was generational and therefore after the death of Zedekiah, the covenant was expected to still be potent.
b. Dangerous and deadly attempts to break off: Going to other powers (Pharaoh) outside God for help may seem promising but it will be very disastrous at the end vv16,17,18,19,20. Only God can deliver from evil covenants.
c. What gave potency to the evil covenant were rebellion, disobedience and trespass against God vv12, 20b.
d. If you notice an evil and recurring trend in your family, community, nation etc, the only way to break it is to first break up from sin, seek the face of God to break the bondage and have full faith in what Jesus has done on the cross of Calvary Galatians 3:13. Only a greater covenant, the New Covenant through the blood of Jesus, can cancel all other covenants.

Note Many nations, communities, families and individuals are living under the yoke of evil covenants which they may not know anything about.
Lord, I don't want to be under any other covenant except the covenant of Jesus. I hereby totally surrender and submit my life to Jesus with faith in His blood๐Ÿ™
Lord, let the blood of Jesus speak for me and deliver me from every evil covenant that I don't know anything about๐Ÿ™
Lord, I ask the blood of the covenant of Jesus "that speaks better things" to start speaking deliverance, prosperity, fruitfulness and blessings, into my life๐Ÿ™
Lord, I hereby break any evil covenant that makes my life, family or nation base and unfruitful๐Ÿ™

Don’t Look Back!

Don’t Look Back! Luke 9:62 – And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. Have you answered the call to serve God as His son and daughter? Have you totally chosen Jehovah as your God? Have you decided to leave your old ways and cleave unto God? If yes! Beloved I congratulate you. But hope you took the cost of your choice?? [Please refer to yesterday’s sermon] God doesn’t want us to look back when we have answered the call, why? This is because of the following: Firstly, it brings shame to the body of Christ and makes people to despise Christ. Looking back is to be lukewarm and to depart from the first love! [Revelation 2:4, Revelation 3:16] Secondly, looking back makes the believer to suffer backwardness spiritually and physical. The faith of the believer suffers and takes a longer time to be rebuilt. [Hebrews 6:4]. Thirdly, looking back will make the person not to complete whatever he or she has started. This is w...

Heart Not Garment - 2

"Rend your heart, and not your garments." --Joel 2:13 Apart from vital godliness all religion is utterly vain; offered without a sincere heart, every form of worship is a solemn sham and an impudent mockery of the majesty of heaven. HEART-RENDING is divinely wrought and solemnly felt. It is a secret grief which is personally experienced, not in mere form, but as a deep, soul-moving work of the Holy Spirit upon the inmost heart of each believer. It is not a matter to be merely talked of and believed in, but keenly and sensitively felt in every living child of the living God. It is powerfully humiliating, and completely sin-purging; but then it is sweetly preparative for those gracious consolations which proud un-humbled spirits are unable to receive; and it is distinctly discriminating, for it belongs to the elect of God, and to them alone.

Faulty Covenant

Faulty Covenant Hebrews 8:7 [7] For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. Covenant as a strong bound that is not easily broken can be faulty. The covenant made betwixt God and the Israelites was a faulty covenant in this time of Grace but perfect in it's time. The covenant wasn't to lead sinner's unto Christ's but it was to lead them unto their destructive end quickly. The old covenant was a period of darkness and pains (because it was more by works and not by grace) but thanks to God who invalidated the old covenant and gave us the covenant of Grace where Jesus is the mediator no longer Moses. God spoken of the new covenant long ago in Jeremiah 31:31; it was manifested in Christ. This new covenant brings light to the soul. Every covenant that do not bring light to your life, be destroyed now by fire! Whatever makes you to live by work and not by grace be destroyed! For God's name sake, let everyt...
