Nobody Eats His Cake and Have It

MEDITATION

Nobody eats his cake and have it

1. The usual result of backsliding
a. Their sin is a case of backsliding from initial total devotion to God v36.
b. They became "servants of corruption", overcome by corruption, brought back into bondage and got entangled in the pollutions of the world v35,
2 Peter 2:19-22.
Lord, I pray for power and grace that will never go back to my vomit again๐Ÿ™
c. Observe that Satan made sure they were worse off morally than even gentile sinners around them through unimaginable wickedness v36.
d. This agrees with 2 Peter 2:19-22 that the devil will not leave backsliders until he makes them worse than what they were before conversion.
Lord, I pray that I will never loose my position of dominion over sin and Satan๐Ÿ™
2. The usual inescapable divine anger on backsliding
a. Open shame before unbelievers v37. Unfortunately, Satan often make backsliders to loose their sense of shame.
b. At times, children or close relations of the backsliders loose their lives v38. Like Judah who shed the blood of their children for idols, a backslider at times do not value the life of close relations through satanic blindness and hardening of hearts.
c. Public disgrace and disappointments v39.
d. Loss and destruction of things that they count precious vv40,41.
e. Observe that the purpose of the severe judgement is to bring a totally lost soul to a sincere reflection, reversal, repentance and restoration vv41b, 43b. Read also Ezekiel 18:32.
3. The usual constant reflections needed
a. To avoid backsliding, often reflect on the wretchedness, wickedness, woes, wastes, wailings and weariness with worldliness etc that made you run to Christ v43.
b. Never forget the great change the day you had a personal encounter with Christ v43.
c. Never forget other blessings that you have received through godliness v43.
d. Backsliding and going back to the world is never an option John 16:33. "My grace is sufficient for you". "We are not of them that goes back to perdition."
Reconsecrate your life afresh to Christ that you will follow Him to the end๐Ÿ™
Pray for backsliders and those considering backsliding among members and ministers in the church that God will visit, revive and restore them๐Ÿ™

Don’t Look Back!

Don’t Look Back! Luke 9:62 – And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. Have you answered the call to serve God as His son and daughter? Have you totally chosen Jehovah as your God? Have you decided to leave your old ways and cleave unto God? If yes! Beloved I congratulate you. But hope you took the cost of your choice?? [Please refer to yesterday’s sermon] God doesn’t want us to look back when we have answered the call, why? This is because of the following: Firstly, it brings shame to the body of Christ and makes people to despise Christ. Looking back is to be lukewarm and to depart from the first love! [Revelation 2:4, Revelation 3:16] Secondly, looking back makes the believer to suffer backwardness spiritually and physical. The faith of the believer suffers and takes a longer time to be rebuilt. [Hebrews 6:4]. Thirdly, looking back will make the person not to complete whatever he or she has started. This is w...

Heart Not Garment - 2

"Rend your heart, and not your garments." --Joel 2:13 Apart from vital godliness all religion is utterly vain; offered without a sincere heart, every form of worship is a solemn sham and an impudent mockery of the majesty of heaven. HEART-RENDING is divinely wrought and solemnly felt. It is a secret grief which is personally experienced, not in mere form, but as a deep, soul-moving work of the Holy Spirit upon the inmost heart of each believer. It is not a matter to be merely talked of and believed in, but keenly and sensitively felt in every living child of the living God. It is powerfully humiliating, and completely sin-purging; but then it is sweetly preparative for those gracious consolations which proud un-humbled spirits are unable to receive; and it is distinctly discriminating, for it belongs to the elect of God, and to them alone.

Faulty Covenant

Faulty Covenant Hebrews 8:7 [7] For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. Covenant as a strong bound that is not easily broken can be faulty. The covenant made betwixt God and the Israelites was a faulty covenant in this time of Grace but perfect in it's time. The covenant wasn't to lead sinner's unto Christ's but it was to lead them unto their destructive end quickly. The old covenant was a period of darkness and pains (because it was more by works and not by grace) but thanks to God who invalidated the old covenant and gave us the covenant of Grace where Jesus is the mediator no longer Moses. God spoken of the new covenant long ago in Jeremiah 31:31; it was manifested in Christ. This new covenant brings light to the soul. Every covenant that do not bring light to your life, be destroyed now by fire! Whatever makes you to live by work and not by grace be destroyed! For God's name sake, let everyt...
